About my Blog

i really don't like to cook. no, really. but i like to bake, and i like healthy, and i like to play at cooking especially when the boys are involved and i like to try to give the best to my kids... you know, without conforming to the 'budak mesti makan nasik baru kenyang' dictum. UNFORTUNATELY, the boys are kinda picky with what they eat. so it's always a fun, continuous, play-adventure-experiment thing. and along the way, i'm so absolutely thrilled if my play helps other people and their culinary journey with their kids, too. here's to PLAYING AT COOKING!

Red!!

About a year-ish ago i saw my friend feeding her baby a bright red puree. I was absolutely fascinated!! It was so....pretty. As if she had poured a whole lot of grenadine syrup or ribena in the bowl. When i asked her what it was, she said it was beets and apple.

BEETS?

I'd never heard of feeding babies beets, let alone in these parts. I was fascinated, yes, but also a little grossed out.

Cut across to last week, and i decided to buy some beets and give them to ms kade here. Beets in malaysia are horribly expensive by the way. I steamed them and froze them in these little ice cubes. It was a leap of faith actually, i didn't think she was going to like it because well, it didn't smell bad. But it did smell like....wer newspapers.

But to my surprise, she gobbled it all up! Macam sedap je kan?
