About my Blog

i really don't like to cook. no, really. but i like to bake, and i like healthy, and i like to play at cooking especially when the boys are involved and i like to try to give the best to my kids... you know, without conforming to the 'budak mesti makan nasik baru kenyang' dictum. UNFORTUNATELY, the boys are kinda picky with what they eat. so it's always a fun, continuous, play-adventure-experiment thing. and along the way, i'm so absolutely thrilled if my play helps other people and their culinary journey with their kids, too. here's to PLAYING AT COOKING!

fruity chicken? err...

i've read lots and lots about how nice it tastes to combine fruit and chicken, especially apricot. like some kind of salad, or maybe chicken and apricot or raisins. so i decided to try jimmy my normal rice porridge for Little A with some fruit. he likes chicken and carrots, so i put that, and because i wanted to experiment, put a little bit of dried apricot in it.

the result: the rice porridge came off sweet. not not nice, but probably we're not used to the taste kot. but still, i was convinced Little A would like it. that was the acid test. so?

dia tak suka. hahahaha!!!! i think it was the sweet taste that put him off. the saviour? baby ajinomoto aka ground ikan bilis. it makes everything taste nice, even nasi goreng. after a healthy sprinkle of it and thoughtful removal of the offending apricots, he managed to eat some of the rice.

i think babies who like sweet-sweet would like it KOT. Little A is more the savoury type, hence! oh well, we shall not despair.

anybody wants frozen apricot porridge?
