the nuggets are really yummy, and my boys ate lots and lots, helped with a healthy bowl of ketchup for dunking. i think this isn't just for kids. me and the dad were waiting and hoping that the boys wouldn't finish the lot!!
ingredients
mince chicken (i used the standard tray you get at supermarkets. maybe 200-300g)
1 apple, the royal gala size, peel and core
a small carrot
one onion, medium sized
one clove garlic
one bread, crusts removed
salt & pepper
some oil
how to
- blitz the apple, carrot and onion. you can chop if you want, but i like it to be as fine as possible, to minimise evidence of any fruit and veggie.
- put some oil in a pan and fry the apple, carrot, onion and crushed garlic. add a bit of salt and pepper to taste.
- remove the crusts on the bread and blitz it to breadcrumbs.
- mix the breadcrumbs, chicken and the apple-carrot mixture.
- put a little oil in the pan (sikit aje, about 3 spoonfuls) then put in your nugget mixture like you would cekodok. flatten it a bit when you turn it to cook the other side
- make sure you have a super-duper name to give it. chicken nuggets are so boring, kan. mine was mummy's special chicken nuggets. ok, i kept the word nuggets, for familiarity. hahaha!!!
you can freeze them cooked or uncooked, i think. i froze some limited quantity cooked and it was easy to heat them up in the oven toaster.
try la. it's a good way to get a veggie-phobe, like Big A, to eat some veggies. i mean, with each nugget he ate, i felt like i was winning something ok. HAHAHAHA!!! oh you don't have to be a good cook pun. cause nuggets are meant to be hodge-podge anyway kan. and making it 'brown' or if like mine 'burnt' only adds to the crispiness and DISGUISE.
good luck!
