About my Blog

i really don't like to cook. no, really. but i like to bake, and i like healthy, and i like to play at cooking especially when the boys are involved and i like to try to give the best to my kids... you know, without conforming to the 'budak mesti makan nasik baru kenyang' dictum. UNFORTUNATELY, the boys are kinda picky with what they eat. so it's always a fun, continuous, play-adventure-experiment thing. and along the way, i'm so absolutely thrilled if my play helps other people and their culinary journey with their kids, too. here's to PLAYING AT COOKING!

weaning

ok, since i've been going through this whole stay at home thing, the job of weaning now falls to me. with the other 2 babies, the nursery did it. easy isn't it? i'd just ask the nursery what they usually eat, and just prepare it at home. but THIS time, i've had to do it myself.

doing it myself, plus having a baby diva equals a very hard time.

baby A was showing all the signs of being ready to eat. he salivates when he sees his brothers eating, he grabs at our food... HE HAS TEETH! so naturally i thought i could start him on solids and he would fly. oh i had so many ideas on what to feed him... so many wants, hopes and aspirations. so many things i could do that i just wasn't enlighted enough to do with my other 2.

no. those are things that did not happen.

i started off with pear puree. you read everywhere that babies like pear because it's sweet, it's the least allergenic food. well, NOT MY BABY. sikit aje dia makan ok. banana, ditto. no carrot. oh these were times of blood, sweat and tears!! i even stopped feeding him for a while. give us both a rest. it was stressful for me, and i bet it was stressful for him too... having something shoved down his mouth every single day.

he did better after the rest but there was still sangat banyak resistance. so i took a rest again. then i finally got round to buying baby rice. konon nak natural, since i am at home kan? tapi desperate times deserve desperate measures. i searched for a brand that had no milk added since Big A had milk allergies dulu. so jumpa la the particular cerelac that was sans milk. typical of Baby A, he wolfed it down!!!

oh, kita nak kasi dia makan sedap-sedap, dia nak makan canned food!!! ish! anti climax betul tau. but never mind... something is better than nothing. so since he'd eat baby rice, but nothing else i tried adding all the stuff i gave him last time. he wolfed it down as well. apparently baby rice to him is like, sambal belacan or something like that.

my friend LN gave some baby brown rice. he liked that too. i must say the baby brown rice dispelled some of my fears about it being yucky. it smelled heavenly!

Baby A has been eating properly now for about 2 weeks. so far so good.

tapi stress kau! hahahahaha
