About my Blog

i really don't like to cook. no, really. but i like to bake, and i like healthy, and i like to play at cooking especially when the boys are involved and i like to try to give the best to my kids... you know, without conforming to the 'budak mesti makan nasik baru kenyang' dictum. UNFORTUNATELY, the boys are kinda picky with what they eat. so it's always a fun, continuous, play-adventure-experiment thing. and along the way, i'm so absolutely thrilled if my play helps other people and their culinary journey with their kids, too. here's to PLAYING AT COOKING!

sticky chicken

i found the most easy chicken thing that's good when you want to cook drummets for bbq or for a snack or something. it's very sticky (yum). and sweet, with a slightly barbecue sauce taste.

what you need
  • 2tsp soy sauce - the eating kind
  • 2tsp worcestershire sauce
  • 4tbsp ketchup (yes!!)
  • 2tbsp brown sugar
  • 2tbsp plum sauce (i got this life brand. there are lots i found out)
  • chicken (i used drummets but you can use any cut you like)

what you do

  • add everything to the chicken and marinade for at least half hour. i put everything in while the chicken is frozen and cook for lunch. the chicken can thaw in the marinade.
  • transfer everything to a baking dish. i have started to use those foil disposable ones. the first time i did it in a pyrex dish - konon 'style'. then i was up half the night trying to scrub out the stains!!! never again, my friend.
  • heat your grill up to high. put the chicken in and then re-set to medium. turn the chicken and baste occasionally until it's cooked through and browned to your liking. i suggest you only use this with the drummets kot.
  • to bake (i like this best cause you don't have to watch it) heat your oven to 190C and bake for about 40 minutes, turning occasionally, or until cooked through. this takes more time than grilling.
  • i've never tried it on the bbq grill but i think it would taste even better kot!
  • i think you can fry it also. anybody who tries frying it please tell me how it goes!!
