About my Blog

i really don't like to cook. no, really. but i like to bake, and i like healthy, and i like to play at cooking especially when the boys are involved and i like to try to give the best to my kids... you know, without conforming to the 'budak mesti makan nasik baru kenyang' dictum. UNFORTUNATELY, the boys are kinda picky with what they eat. so it's always a fun, continuous, play-adventure-experiment thing. and along the way, i'm so absolutely thrilled if my play helps other people and their culinary journey with their kids, too. here's to PLAYING AT COOKING!

beef balls

this is good to add to the pasta sauce. can also try it with chicken, although i like beef better.

what you need
  • 1 medium onion, chopped as finely as you can
  • breadcrumbs from 2 slices of bread, crusts removed
  • 55ml milk
  • 250g minced beef (i used the standard tray)
  • 1 small apple, peeled and grated (i used the royal gala)
  • salt, black pepper to taste
  • bit of oregano or whatever leaves you like (i used the tesco italian herbs)

what you do

  • soak the breadcrumbs in the milk
  • fry the onions in some oil until translucent. cool enough to handle
  • add beef, onion, apple, salt, pepper and the leaves to the soaked breadcrumbs and mix well
  • form balls with hands
  • heat a little oil and brown the meatballs until cooked through. i find that too much oil will make the balls stick, still i don't learn my lesson!!
  • if you want to add to pasta sauce, cook enough to brown it and then cook it about 5 minutes in the sauce

try la. it's very the yummy!
